85 years
and going strong
Specialists engineering merchant George Henry & Co Ltd have
been meeting the needs of South Island Industry, tradespeople and
home users since 1923.
George Henry’s clients range from large engineering and construction
firms through to individual home handymen.
One of the businesses
strengths is the depth of specialised knowledge of its salespeople.
“The strength of our company is the expertise of
our staff” says Paul Brown, the General Manager.
“We have established a solid working relationship with our
clients, with many of whom we are on a first name basis.
Many of the team of 15 staff have long associations not only with
George Henry but within the engineering industry. Graeme Daniel, the Sales Manager, has been involved
with the engineers merchant trade for 39 years. Keith
Matheson another
employee works in the repair service section which is
an extension of the specialist side of the business.
The large 930sqm retail showroom displays more than 14,000 product
lines. We are able to supply most people’s needs immediately,
or if not we can access products overnight. We have a good insight
into the tools we sell and have developed a better knowledge of
the strengths and weaknesses of particular models within a brand.
This is reflected in the range of tools the company carries.
The company offers a large specialist range of power
tools including Bosch, Hitachi, Makita, Metabo, Panasonic and Ryobi.
Its handtool range includes, Kincrome, Powerbuilt, Fuller, Stanley,
Gilbow, Record, Bondhus and Koken.
Three company sales representatives travel
the South Island from Nelson/Marlborough in the north to
as far south as Oamaru.
